In short

Pass the Glass does not collect any data. Everything you enter stays on your own phone. There is no account, no server, no advertising and no tracking.

What the app stores

The app stores only on your phone:

• tastings: the name of the tasting, the names of the tasters, the wines (with vintage, price and who brought the bottle, if you enter them) and the scores;
• groups you save: a name and the names of the tasters;
• My Wines: your own wines with your score and notes, and the wines of finished tastings with the group's score;
• photos of labels that you take or choose from your photo library.

We cannot see this data. It is not sent anywhere.

Camera

The app asks for camera access so you can take a photo of the label and, from version 1.5, scan the QR code of a wine box. You can also choose a photo from your photo library; the app then only sees that one photo. A label photo is kept only inside the app and is not sent anywhere. The camera image used for scanning is not kept.

Scanning a wine box (from version 1.5)

When you scan the QR code of a wine box, the app fetches the wines and the label photos from the shop's website, at the address in the QR code. This is the only time the app fetches anything from the internet, and only after you scan.

The app sends no data about you: no account, no cookies, nothing you entered in the app. As with any website visit, the shop's website does see your IP address and the versions of the app and of iOS. What the shop does with that is covered by the shop's privacy policy. The fetched wines and photos are then kept only on your phone.

Sharing

You can share a result or a wine as an image. A result shows the wines, the scores and the names of the tasters. Sharing only happens when you tap the share button, through the iOS share sheet, to the app or person you choose. If you choose "Save Image", iOS asks whether the app may add the image to your Photos. What another app does with the image is covered by that app's privacy policy.

Rating

After a few tastings, iOS may ask you once per version to rate the app in the App Store. This goes through Apple; we cannot see who rates what.

Feedback

If you tap Feedback in the app, your own mail app opens with an email to us. If you send it, we receive your email address and your message, as with any other email. We only use them to read and answer your question or idea. The app itself sends nothing.

Backups

If you use iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer, iOS includes the app's data in it. You control this in your phone's settings.

Deleting

You can delete tastings and wines in the app. If you delete the app, all of its data is gone.

Age

The app is about wine and is intended for people aged 18 and over. Please drink responsibly.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with a new date.
